happy halloween

Happy Halloween everyone!!! Its that great night where I can indulge my love of the dark side of life....plus eat a lot of candy. If your after a great site for Halloween chocolate joy check out the amazing designs from British based chocolate store Choccywoccydoodah. I just adore their chocolate skulls as they feature designs inspired from the day of the dead celebrations.

So tonight I will be watching a combination of scary movies and a bit of film noir. The triple feature will be Cabin Fever, Blood Rayne and The Black Dahlia. So I'm now off to the shops for more candy!!!! Happy Halloween!

Inspiration Costumes

Its no secret that I adore the show The Big Bang Theory and with Halloween on the horizon I figured I'd look at them for a bit of geek costume inspiration.

The picture above is from one of their Halloween episodes which always makes me laugh as they are dressed as follows. L-R Howard as Robin Hood, Raj as Thor, Leonard as Frodo and Sheldon as the doppler effect. Ok so maybe I won't get dressed as these characters but at least its a starting point.

Maybe I could do a medieval theme like this????

Or just stick with the classic superheros? LOL

A bit more football

As I said a while ago I have recently been going to a few Melbourne Victory games. Ok so I still don't have a huge idea whats going but its still fun to head out with friends and enjoy the atmosphere. So I thought I'd share a few more photos of my adventures with you.

This is me on the way to the game while the boys try yet again to explain the "off side" rule. I must say I am actually enjoying going to the football, if for no other reason its a great night out with buddies.

I love Mode Merr

With the festive season creeping up on us I thought it was time to hit the net to see what I could find for all those parties on the horizon. Last year I headed to Betty Page but this year I'm thinking I should head back to the label that inspired me many years ago; Mode Merr. In true Mode Merr style I was just delighted at the dresses on offer, so I figured I'd share.

The first to catch my eye was the "Eye Candy Blouse" which according to Mode Merr is a sweet interpretation of their best selling "Everybody Loves Cleavage" Blouse. It is a pull on top is made of soft cotton lycra jersey. with a Peter Pan Collar and keyhole neckline are trimmed with red ric-rac and fastened with a grosgrain ribbon bow. As you can see by the picture above it looks stunning teamed with a full skirt however I am sure that it would look just as stunning with a pencil skirt too.

Of course the ultra cute "Candy Dress" also caught my eye. Who doesn't love a stunning dress for Christmas that also will help satisfy your sweet tooth. Made of red stretch cotton twill with playful candies cascading down the a-line skirt. Ok so if anyone wants to send me an early christmas gift here is you very unsubtle hints LOL

Happy frock shopping

OPI and the Muppets

Sometimes you get to combine two things you love and right now OPI nail polish has teamed up with the MUPPETS!!!!

So you can imagine the massive smile when I came across the super cute display at my local polish supply store.

OPI has even named them with fantastic names like "warm and Fozie" and "getting Piggy with it". Which I do admit will probably be the first to come home with me for a test in the next few weeks. As soon as I get them on my nails I will post some pics for you all so you can see how they look on.

So far I have only seen them in the normal size bottles but I am hoping to find some of the mini bottles so can I can give them to my fav gals for Christmas.

Spooky

Its that time of the year again....Halloween.

Personally I adore Halloween, hey any excuse to play dressups and eat candy. Honestly its not the only reason, but hey candy is candy. For me its a nice connection to All saints day and the festival of the dead. Yep that sounds depressing but I prefer to see it as a time when we can connected with the people that have passed.

Slowly Halloween is becoming a bigger event in Australia. If your in Melbourne its a great chance to go on one of the local ghost tours where you can really get your spook on. LOL

So right now I'm in planning mode for my own Halloween decoration. Of course there will be lots of cut outs of bats and skeletons. But my pride and joy for those visiting me over the Halloween weekend will be my candy buffet. Todays mission is actually going hunting for candy jars and of course candy in spooky colours.

So dust of your broomsticks, grab your pointy hat and lets get magical.

Go Melbourne

Normally I'm an AFL girl, GO BRISBANE LIONS!!!! Ok so I had to put that cheer in. However I have recently been going to the soccer, which means learning a whole new ball game, literally.

Why you may ask is this retro AFL gal going to the soccer? Well to be honest it was because I was invited. However once you get there you do realize that the sport is much better to watch live than on TV. Not to mention the team I am going and supporting has also recently signed Harry Kewell to play.

So I thought I might show you a couple of snaps I got the other weekend while watching. I must admit there is something about having 40,000+ people holding their breath waiting for a team to score that can really pull you into the atmosphere.

Keep Calm and ......

Having a love of art from the past especially of the nose art from the war planes its no great surprise that I also like the classic 'Keep Calm and Carry On' posters from 1939. It was orginally made by the British government to help raise the morale of the British public. However since 2000 its be re-discovered and re-issued in various ways.

I thought I would share with you a few of the ones I've found so far and like. These actually might become my next art project, not sure how yet but thats why its called a project I guess.

Its a small world

Sometimes I wonder how many people see the same things. I have a weakness for a perfume known as harajuku lovers, partly for the scents and party for the bottles. I already have the original version of the perfume known as Love, and I adore the fact that at least once a year they release either new scents or limited edition mini bottles. I was extremely tempted by these latest editions as the bare a very close resemblance to some of my fav t-shirt designs from Bersek clothing. Hint Hint anyone who wants to know what to get me for christmas.

Today's color

So for this week I thought I would road test a couple of different nail products.

To start with I picked up a little bottle of Maybelline Mini Colorama in 96 Party Blue. I figured it was time to try something a little brighter than normal and it works perfectly as it matches the Melbourne Victory team colors so I can be supportive even with polish. Also at a mini price $5.95 it was worth the risk. It actually came out really well with a nice crisp color that didn't look too strong against my pale skin.

The other thing I am testing is having a gel overlay on my color. Why you may ask? As I work in a job that seems to take a large toll on my nail polish I thought I would try something to help keep the color longer. The big thing at the moment is Shelac but its a bit out of my price range at the moment, so this was the cheaper solution. So far so good. The gel overlay gives an almost glass like shine to the polish and best of all it was dry in under 2 minutes. Meaning I could leave the salon without fear of messing up my polish just after leaving.

So we'll see how long wearing it really is.

am i in a dream.....

Its not very often I go OMG when in a department store but today I did when I walked into the newly refitted OPI section of a David Jones. Talk about beautiful nail polish choices overload.

Hopefully by the photos you can see why. Its no secret I adore OPI polish, in fact I even have their app on my phone so I can browse their colors before heading out to the stores or salon. However when you see so many colors in one place its easy to feel your head swim with dizziness over this decision of which one you will pick.

Not to mention all the cool other products that I had never seen before. There were lotions, potions and ultra cute mini bottles of the latest collections. I was so tempted to say "give me one of everything" but thankfully sense kicked in LOL.

After so many years working in the retail world it takes a lot for me to go WOW with a company's fitout but OPI have managed to do it this time for me. So if you want some polish indulgence go and have a look at your local David Jones store to see. But be warned there are only so many polishes you can wear at once. Happy Shopping.

Mad Men Yourself

A few weeks ago I went an saw the Mad Men exhibition at Chadstone Shopping centre, so really it was just a matter of time before I up load a couple of pics from a cute little app called Mad Men Yourself.

Its a great way to put yourself in the show as a cartoon version without actually having to leave the comfort of your lounge. So I thought I'd show you what I came up with. There are tones of outfits, settings and body types to choose from, so jump online and have a play.

Tea for two

Where do you go when your craving a nice cup of tea???? Well I head straight to T2, my favourite tea store. So when Mikii was down this week and wanting something different than Earl Gray tea it was no surprise where we headed to.

Apart from all the beautiful blends I adore this place as there are always plenty of new teas to try and my personal weakness.....Teapots. Ok so you really only need one but when I place has this many to tempt you its hard to understand why one is enough.

Our main purpose was to pick up some Tisane's which are the perfect ice teas for this sunny daylight saving weather. We opted for the scrummy Turkish Apple and Turkish Cherry to be later enjoyed once home.

We did manage to walk out with just our tea but it was touch and go there for awhile as I kept finding more and more pretty cups, saucers, teapots, glass cups and the list goes on. Needless to say I just had to take a few photos for my wish list.

Goodbye and Thank you

It is with great sadness that I write this post. Today I heard the sad news about Steve Jobs passing away. You may wonder why the passing away of a person I never knew has affected me. To put it simply I have been using Apple Mac’s since I was a little girl, with my very first computer being the Apple Mac Classic SE II as shown below.

My first apple

With great thanks to the team at Apple that I have been inspired for years by new technology, been excited to learn, write and play. When I first started using Apple I was just a little girl and was look at weird when I said "I use a mac" now that phrase is no longer odd. Its no longer uncommon to own at least one apple product. Personally I have 3 ipods, a macbook, a macbook pro and an iphone; and yes if anyone wants to send an ipad my way I'd gladly give it a good home.

So basically I would like to say thank you to Steve and all at apple and leave you with a quote that I adore from an old apple ad that still rings true to me.

”Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits.
The rebels.
The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They push the human race forward.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world
are the ones who do.”
