OPI and the Muppets

Sometimes you get to combine two things you love and right now OPI nail polish has teamed up with the MUPPETS!!!!

So you can imagine the massive smile when I came across the super cute display at my local polish supply store.

OPI has even named them with fantastic names like "warm and Fozie" and "getting Piggy with it". Which I do admit will probably be the first to come home with me for a test in the next few weeks. As soon as I get them on my nails I will post some pics for you all so you can see how they look on.

So far I have only seen them in the normal size bottles but I am hoping to find some of the mini bottles so can I can give them to my fav gals for Christmas.

am i in a dream.....

Its not very often I go OMG when in a department store but today I did when I walked into the newly refitted OPI section of a David Jones. Talk about beautiful nail polish choices overload.

Hopefully by the photos you can see why. Its no secret I adore OPI polish, in fact I even have their app on my phone so I can browse their colors before heading out to the stores or salon. However when you see so many colors in one place its easy to feel your head swim with dizziness over this decision of which one you will pick.

Not to mention all the cool other products that I had never seen before. There were lotions, potions and ultra cute mini bottles of the latest collections. I was so tempted to say "give me one of everything" but thankfully sense kicked in LOL.

After so many years working in the retail world it takes a lot for me to go WOW with a company's fitout but OPI have managed to do it this time for me. So if you want some polish indulgence go and have a look at your local David Jones store to see. But be warned there are only so many polishes you can wear at once. Happy Shopping.

Pedicure Mash Up

Ok so a Katey Perry and Pirates of the Caribbean are not to concepts that usually end up together in a mash up. Before you stress this isn't what you think.

As I am a massive OPI fan I recently indulged in a couple of colours from their 2011 collections. Firstly the cute pink of "Sparrow me the drama" from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection and then the stunning sparkles of "teenage dreams" from the Katey Perry collection.

Needless to say I was having an ultra cute 'barbie' inspired moment. So whats a girl to do when she has to super cute polishes at home and can't figure which to wear first. Yep that's right she wears both. So here's the result of using the both.

Basically VERY PINK and VERY SPARKLY, which was PERFECT for the mood I was in. So if your up for some sparkles and want to indulge your cute side go grab a bottle.

Pedi Pleasure

Winter may be the time we cover up however this is no time to forget about our beauty regimes.

So today my darlings we are going to look at how to do a basic pedicure at home
You’re going to need a small list of supplies at hand to perform the perfect pedicure. Remember to clean and dry the pedicure tools after each use. This not only keeps items clean and more effective, but it also helps prevent possible infections.

You’ll need a large basin to fill with water and soak your feet. For the best results, you want some sort of antiseptic, cleanser or moisturizing product mixed into the foot soaking water. If you really want to pamper yourself, make sure whatever you add to the water also smells wonderful.

A towel should be nearby for drying your feet. One of the best parts of a pedicure is getting rid of all that dry, dead skin, so make sure to buy a foot file or pumice stone. Use an exfoliating body or foot scrub and a foot file or a wet pumice stone and remove the dead on the balls and heels of your feet. The idea is the smooth and not the remove. If your foot is turning bright red then stop. This means that you are scrubbing too hard.

Next remove old nail polish completely. Using cotton balls leaves traces of cotton on your nails try using cotton bands instead. Soak the cotton band with acetone remover and remove the old polish. If the color is not coming off the press the cotton on to the nail and let it soak for a while.

It is always best to use high quality clippers to cut your toenails. Cut your nails straight across, leaving about 1/8″ of length. Do not let your nail extend over the tip of your toe.

For a soft square shape, file the nail around the corners in one direction. Use emory boards and not metal files, as metal files rip nails. The smoother surface is for smoothing the nail edge while the coarser surface is for shortening and shaping nails.

Apply cuticle remove to the base of each nail and rub in. Wait for a minute and then using an orangewood stick, slowly push the skin back where it meets the nail.

Dry your feet thoroughly including between the toes and apply nourishing foot cream; a super-intense moisturizing lotion is also required to help heal your newly cleaned skin. Rub the feet and rehydrate cuticles by rubbing a little cuticle oil.

Use an acetone remover to get rid of the extra oils on the nails. Apply a thin base coat and using three strokes, one down the middle and one on each side. Do not paint cuticles. Apply three coats totally and then apply a thin topcoat. Use orangewood stick wrapped in cotton dipped in nail polish remover to remove excess nail polish

Let your nails dry completely before you wear shoes. OPI polish
