The Kittens purr

Love and Cherish
Personally I like to support local companies especially when they are independent clothing stores based here in Australia.  A few years ago I discovered Kitten D'Amour in Queensland and I have loved their clothing ever since.  Its a great mix of all I adore with their gothic lolita, retro inspired clothing.  One of the best things about their clothing is you can wear it as a complete outfit or take the parts you love and work it into your daily wear.  In fact its actually a store I always make a special effort to get to when ever I get to the sunshine state.

With their collections ranging from sweet and innocent like the picture to the left from their Love and Cherish Collection to amazing dresses for the races in the Rue De Paris and Dearly beloved collections as seen below.   These pieces let your inner Goddess shine through in a multitude of ways and really who wouldn't want to be a Goddess in their daily life.  Plus when attending events you are sure to stand out in the right way.

So do you like what you see so far?  Then make sure you jump on their website and have a look for yourself.   And please make sure you watch the clip below to help you feel inspired

With Christmas well and truly here I thought I might treat myself to a couple of gifts from Santa.

Plus with the Aussie dollar being so strong with the US dollar I jumped online and picked up these little numbers, and bonus they were on sale too.

Va Va Voom

Now I often write about fashion and I'm usually referring to things my size, however I found this amazing store but sadly I can't wear anything. The reason is City Chic only design clothing for sizes AUS14 and up.

This season you will find designs for all ages and larger sizes that look stunning. On a shopping trip with my darling buddy last week we ended up walking out after trying on most of the store and a lot of bags in her hands. So I figured for the fuller figure ladies I'd let you know of City Chic's fabulous range! Watch the behind the scenes clip below to see what else these gals got up too.

oh the choices!

Ok so it that time of the year again, winter is ending and I really fancy a new hair color. I'm thinking a bold red, but not sure. So I am looking at one of my favorite friends from QLD Miss Mishka to figure out what to do.

I adore Miss Mishka's style, she is so bold and sassy yet has this amazing little girl quality about her. The photo below is the sort of color I'm thinking of, although today's dye job effort (regarless what the box said) didn't really change my color much. So I think the next step is even bolder color.

Fingers crossed it works out well, as soon as the color works I'll post photos.

The Great 50s Cake Bake-Off

Its no great secret that I love to make cupcakes. They are quick, cute and always yummy, I'm still learning how to make them look super cute, but at least I have the 'yummy' factor sorted. Which is why I adore reading Bakerlla's Blog as there is always something to capture your imagination like these cake pop's inspired by Toy Story of Ham.

So on a recent reading of her blog I noticed that she had been helping judge a cake decorating comp, which in turn reminded me of the one held by the Lovely ladies of the Lindy Charm School at Wintersun.

It was fantastic to see so many people taking part both as cooks and as on lookers ohhing and ahhing over the yummy and inventive designs. All I can say is so much talent and I'm rather glad I didn't have to pick a winner as they were all very good.

So all of this made me wonder....at what point did we stop baking as art and start ordering from bakeries? Not that I have anything against a bought cake, as they often do so much better than I ever could, but I did start to think how many times I've popped to the shops for an afternoon tea cake instead of baking. Well new house new rules, yes that's right I'm heading back to the kitchen and whipping up treats for my house guests.

feeling a bit french

Thanks to Sweet Libertine I have been introduced to the great little store on Etsy called Little Waltz which because of the above necklace inspired me to dress a little bit french today.

So with a little of pink, black and silver that I headed out to the big wide world.

Found the super cute bag at my local Salvo's store for less than a cup of coffee, you gotta love finds like that and today's outfit seemed like the perfect time to bring out of storage.

Plus by sheer luck the lovely little flower detail on the bag mirrors my pink sparkle ring fro Diva.

So with floral ballet flats I headed out for coffee and catch ups.

Sometimes you just got to go with the vibe of the day. Now to get a bottle of champagne and listen to sweet but melancholy music.

Print This

So the hunting for patterns has got me hunting around in the strangest places. Which means I came across so many other things instead of fabrics. Explain to me why when your hunting for one thing its the only thing you can't find, but everything else you'd been hunting for ages ago magically turns up in front of you.

So i grabbed the camera and started snapping this fantastic paper. Its all fantastically retro with a classical inspired feel.

Now to have a craft/sewing room like Martha Stewart where its all there to play with. But is the neat craft room (and i mean V V neat) really the best place to be creative in? I love the idea but my gut instincts tell me I just spend my days tidying it all and not being creative. On the upside that's not a worry, now just to organise the tones of craft stuff i have currently have.

hundreds of colours of thread

Ever spend a whole weekend looking for that perfect dress or outfit. Well if your like me you have, not to mention since my taste is a little left of centre it makes it a bit harder. So a few days ago I decided to start pattern hunting because lets face it if you can't find make it.

And joy I found a few projects for this doll to sink her teeth into. Sure I know have to fix up the sewing machine and find fabrics....oh yeah figure out to fit this all together without a dummy (yes next purchase on the list) I must admit the image above I think i need to make about 20 of these in various fabrics because she is the ultimate all rounder design for me.

I think these would be great in so many fabrics and worn day to day. As well as the added ruffle of some tulle in the underskirt.

I'm thinking these for work, the coats will be great for Melbourne winters and great little suits.

I just adore these ones to, plus I can add the these to my other collection of 50's patterens.

Ok so now to find fabric and get sewing. Watch this space for updates

drink up

At this time of year there are lots of options when it comes to wine. Personally if it tastes nice its gets my vote. I may not be the fussiest person when it somes to my whites but I do love good packaging.

This one grabbed my eye and wasn't half bad. Went down really easy at a family BBQ over the heat wave, so keep your eyes peeled for groovy bottles and yummy drops
