Gotta Love Vintage

Alright ladies its time to start counting those pennies you've been saving for the The Love Vintage Clothing Show & Sale at Sydney's Canterbury Racecourse Function Centre.  For some of us it means hopping a flight up to Sydney for the weekend (September 14th-16th) but when great fashion calls what else are we meant to do????

Come on what is a girl meant to do when she is presented with some of the best vintage dealers from all over Australia selling retro, vintage and antique clothing and accessories, antique and vintage jewellery, linen, lace and textiles and small collectables. Not to mention that there will be vintage fashions on the stage, lectures by guest speakers, workshops and demonstrations of vintage makeup and hairstyle techniques and other fabulous entertainment.  Ok I'm tired just thinking about how much I will have to fit in while there.

So are you thinking about coming yet?  How about knowing that they are even doing a Mini-makeover – Before & After; with a lucky guest being chosen at the ‘Red Carpet’ event to receive this special treatment on Friday night!  Plus the Friday night ‘Red Carpet’ preview features the Best Dressed Parade with wonderful prizes to be won plus lots more entertainment.  So start working on those outfits ladies.

And for the low cost of Adults $14 (2 day pass $26 and 3 day pass $38) why wouldn't you be there?  You can even book online to saw yourself time waiting in lines when you could be shopping.  So grab your glad rags and we'll see you there in a few weeks.

Fight Like a Girl

Thanks to Ms Selma I was given a copy of the new release songs of the amazing Emilie Autumn collection known as F.L.A.G or the full title as Fight Like a Girl. Based on her autobiographical novel, The Asylum for Wayward Victorican Girls the album has been described as "an operatic feminist treatise set inside an insane asylum, wherein the female inmates gradually realize their own strength in numbers."

All I can say is it's amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on the CD with its beautiful artwork.  The music ranges from dark electronic, haunting 18th century harpsichord and almost classical beat-poetry.  I'm not sure how long Australian fans will have to wait for the official release and long awaited tour but when Emilie does return to our shore she will be greeted with joy.  So far I do have a few fav's like "we want them young", "if I burn", 'The Key" and of course "Fight like a girl".  This is a must for all fans.

tik tok....countdown to zara!!!!

As I head to bed to night it is with the excitement of a child on Christmas eve as tomorrow the long awaited opening of the Chadstone Zara store is due.  It is claimed that Zara needs just two weeks to develop a new product and get it to stores, compared to the six-month industry average, and launches around 10,000 new designs each year.

Its not very often I count down to a store opening like this however I have been following the fashion trend from Europe for awhile and now I get to have one a lot closer to home than before.  With a great range of clothing for all ages I will happily attend the opening to see just whats instore for us all in their new double level location.  So stay tuned for pics and probably a couple of purchases.

pass the stickers

Ok so its probably a bit early to start thinking about 2013 but when the phrase "new diary" and "25% off" are in the same sentence it was all I could do to not walk into Kikki K and see what was on offer. And.......

I stumbled upon the gorgeous cute canvas time planner; it probably helps that I'm really embracing my new love for pink at the moment so it just had to come home with me.  Apart from the ultra cute design it is ideal for managing appointments, storing loose paper and is the perfect one-stop organizer on the go as its small enough to fit in all of my bags for work and day-to-day.

As many friends of mine know I have a real weakness for stationery especially for journals and diaries so it was hard just picking one from the new 2013 Kikki K range.

So why do I love it...... Features:
  • Canvas outer with cotton lining
  • Refillable Pages
  • Monthly and Weekly View
  • Card Pockets
  • Elastic Closure
  • Pen Loop and yes I did have to pick up a new pen as well, who could resist.
  • Notepad, To Do List, Addresses and Expenses tracker
And yes I know I have all these things in my phone but who can really say no to a place to colour in and really personalize, plus you can still access all the things you want regardless of battery life and WiFi connectivity.

So keep your eyes peeled in your local stores for the cool new stationery coming out over the next few months.

Walking home and I saw....

You never know what you can find when your walking home from walk and last night was no exception.  I am a big fan of window shopping as the right window can inspire a new look or at the very least get you to walk into a store you may of never considered before.

As we head towards the warmth of spring here in Melbourne we are starting to see the first burst of 'happy colors' hit our stores.  I am so glad to see so many pastels hitting our designs that breath new joy into a wardrobes.  These shots were taken as I walked past Forever New and its clear to see that there are still lots of vintage inspired pieces are coming back again with beautiful soft color touches such as the above felt 1940's style hats and quilted ballet flats.  I think a trip instore might be needed for me tomorrow.

Oh no there goes more of my wages *giggle*, so keep your eyes peeled.

Firefly 10th Anniversary Panel

With the conclusion of the San Diego Comic Con I thought I would share the 10th anniversary of the Firefly panel held during the convention.  If your not sure what Firefly is well in basic terms think post apocalyptic space western LOL.  Most people will know the writer and creator from the series Buffy the vampire hunter, angel and Dollhouse or even the latest movie the Avengers.  Sadly the series was cancelled by USA tv during the first season, however due to the love of the fans the Firefly team managed to get a feature length film made.  Ten years later and the love for this series and the cast is still strong out there in the sci fi community thanks to the fans who share and support this project.

I really suggest you grab it on DVD as you will fall in love with the blend of western with space as the setting.  Not to mention there are some great outfits to cosplay for first timers; and yes I have a few cosplay outfits I'm putting together from this show - now I just need a few good pals to help me with a full cast list in cosplay.

So sit back and watch as it will make you see just how much the fans do mean to the writers, creators and actors of all those TV/movies out there.
