AppTastic!

I have been a mac gal since '81 so its but no stretch of the imagination I have an iPhone.  It may sound cliche but my iPhone is more than a phone its....everything to me.  It lets me keep in touch, entertains me when I get bored on train rides, knows my fav songs and even guides me when I'm lost.

With all this in mind I thought I'd share a few of my current favorite apps in no particular order

Make Up For Ever Professional

Looking for hints, tips or inspiration?  Then this might be the app for you.  Not only can u find new styles you would like to try it also includes little videos so you can see exactly what to do.  It may not be the bible for beauty but it does offer a bit more fun and holds your hand when you want to experiment with new looks.
Public Transport Victoria

If you live in melbourne this is a must; especially as it covers trams, trains and buses.  This has come in very handy while out on adventures as you can plan your journey including any walking that may need to be done.  You also have access to maps so you can see what bus or train line your on.  Another great feature is the next 5 function for trams, a perfect to see which trams are coming and if they are useful to you.  Overall for a free app its really great.

Draw Something

Most likely you have already heard or even played this app.  I picked it up for 99c on a bargain weekend and it has been a good time killer.  Only downside is waiting for your friends to respond with their drawings.  It will make you laugh and at times wonder what goes on in your friends mind when their drawing.

Guitar Hero

If you ever played the game on your gaming console you will already understand why you can loose hours of your life playing this.  Sadly there are only a few songs that come with the base package however its enough to get you playing.  For me its also a great chance to hear songs I may not have heard before.

Guidebook

Yet another free app which I actually needed to download a few weekends ago, as opposed to my "this looks cool" app downloading.  Why I needed this you may be asking; simply it was my guide to the recent Supanova event I attended.  This was the best thing I have ever had when going to an event as it included a full day by day schedule which I could then specify what items I was attending.  As well as maps, information about the sessions, transport and pretty much everything you could need to attend.  I really hope more conventions use the application here in Aus as it really helped me navigate all seminars, photos and shopping.

THE AVENGERS

So today is special for a few reasons number one being its my beloved Tedi's birthday day which has inspired a day of geek filled joy for all.

This meant a goody basket filled with geeky goodness including Batman and Captain America, a Marvel superheros mug, t-shirt and cupcakes.  Followed of course by a massive brunch with buddies at Tedi's fav cafe in Prahan then the highlight of the day ........SEEING THE AVENGERS MOVIE!!!!!!!!

What can I say about this movie......let me think???  ITS A MUST! Now I adore Joss Whedon and that's no secret as my house is filled with Firefly/Serenity DVD's, books and almost anything else of Whedons I can watch/read/enjoy.  However even if you aren't a fan of Joss, avengers or even comics this is a must see.

I won't spoil it for you except to say its funny, witty, clever, beautifully cast, amazing effects and all around the best movie ticket your going to buy this year.  So get off that couch, grab some friends and head to your local cinema for some public dreaming.  Who knows it may even inspire you to have a go at COSPLAY????

I've uploaded the trailer to get your desire going, so click and get to that cinema

St Trinians

One of the Maiden's of St Trinian's
 Greetings all......

This morning I am feeling the need to have a bit of a retro geek moment.  Growing up I was lucky enough to be introduced to St Trinian's, nope not the 2007 version with Russell Brand.  Instead the classic movies from the mid 1950's which will always hold a special place in my heart.  Not only did it inspire me to learn all the lyrics to the theme song, start drawing the St. Trinian's logo all over my school books but in my mind it was a great way to see that we can all be accepted exactly as we are.

With all this mind I have begun my hunt for some of the classic books these movies were based on.
Hurrah for St Trinian's (1948)
The Female Approach (1950)
Back to the Slaughterhouse (1952)
The Terror of St Trinians (1953)

If that fails maybe a day of movies.  The playlist looks like this

The Belles of St Trinian's (1954, the first film)
Blue Murder at St Trinian's (1957, the second film)
The Pure Hell of St Trinian's (1960, the third film)
The Great St Trinian's Train Robbery (1966, the final film of the quartet)
The Wildcats of St Trinian's (1980, with Maureen Lipman taking on the Joyce Grenfell role)
St Trinian's (2007)
St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold (2009)

So I thought I would share some images and the theme song with you all.

What I'm listening to

Its that time again when I share amazing bands.  Today's feature is the Jane Austin Argument.  If your unsure of who I'm talking about the Jane Austen Argument are a musical duo featuring Tom Dickins and Jen Kingwell. This amazing team will make you want to listen to track after track after track with the beautiful songs.  Some of you may have seen them feature with Amanda Palmer (hence where the clip below is from) or if you have frequented the Butterfly Club in Melbourne.

So please click, listen and hunt down more of their tunes

Lest We Forget

Greetings all on this very special day.  As always this day holds many memories and emotions for most people I know so I thought it was a good chance to say thank you to all that have served and are serving in the armed forces at the moment.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget
