too hot to dress up

In this hot weather which is QLD I have been reminded why its so hard to buy clothing. Its too hot to try anything on.

However there are times when you just have to. So far in my travels I have found the stunning little hats, some super cute earrings, cool shoes and a thousand other things I wish I could bring home with me. But sadly i had to settle for just playing dress ups.

So after a few iced coffees my friend Ez and I discovered a great little store called That Shop in Burleigh Heads. So yes this is not the best photo taken of me but hey in this heat you can't have everything ;)

So i have to say congrats to all you stunning GC Rockabilly gals in this heat and still looking this fabulous. This amazing lady was also found at burliegh heads. Your stunning gal! If this is you please let me know.

In this heat

In this heat I am struggling with my love of stockings. I have invested in some stunning pairs from various providers but with the heat wave in Melbourne its proving a little harder to wear everyday.

So many of you may ask why since the invention of pantyhose or tights would anyone want to wear stockings unless you are trying to rev up the engine of your partner.

Well for me personally they make me walk taller, smile more and generally feel spectacular. There is just something special about walking around knowing that under your dress/skirt is the this silken pleasure is there, only for you and for those you wish to share it with.

I do firmly believe that lingerie is the foundation of you day, so with the right beginnings anything is possible.

I can only advise that ladies its time to hit the shops and grad a pair of stocking. Stay ups or true stockings and walk tall in your beauty.

Cherries & Made By C

Sweet Cherry Necklace and Earrings by Made By C
Lady Luck Shirt by Sitch Witch
Sunglasses by Portmans

I do love my rockabilly style especially when it comes to my jewellery. As you can see I have gone for the classic red and black, as well as cherries. This is a great style as you can put your own twist on it.

Must admit there is nothing i find better than finding a local gal who can use simple pieces that capture the vibe I'm after. I wear a few pieces from Made By C, and have to giggle when I see simple pieces in mass produced stores like Diva.

So I guess what I'm really trying to say is keep your eyes open for the indpendant designers, online and in that big wide world of ours. A great little web site (apart from Etsy) is Shanalogic , where you can find all manner of things from T-shirts to necklaces from all around the world.

Washi Blossom Ring - Red & Jet
I just have to list a few more images of the amazing pieces for your lust worthy attention.

Last Call Pocket Mirror

So I can only urge everyone to get clicking and see what treasures you can source for christmas and birthday presents. Happy looking

Make up is minimal and specially coloured to suit where I'll be working, which thankfully works well in photos as well.

I do love this outfit as it is just the right combination of sweet little girl and vintage princess.

Forever Barbie

At the moment those of us in Melbourne are lucky enough to have some great Pop Icon exhibitions. There is Star Wars at Science Works and Forever Barbie at Fed Square.

Forever Barbie: A Pop Culture Icon Exhibition

No matter where you go, the mere mention of Barbie™ elicits a reaction. People are passionate, persuasive, and just plain personal about their Barbie story. How could one doll create such a response? Barbie is more than a doll she is a major part of pop culture!

To coincide with Barbie’s 50th Anniversary, Fed Square will host a fabulous exhibition celebrating Barbie’s past, present and future. Located within a purpose-built exhibition hall, the Forever Barbie exhibition will immerse visitors in every aspect of Barbie’s illustrious life over the past 50 years as well as give an insight into the future of the world’s most loved fashion doll!

Barbie Logo

This will be the largest collection of Barbies ever assembled in the Southern Hemisphere. In addition, Barbie’s very own Fashion Designer, Robert Best will fly in from the U.S. for a series of workshops that provide an insight into the design process behind the making of the world’s most famous doll.

Over 300 Barbie Dolls - including some of the rarest and quirkiest sourced from the Mattel® archives as well as Australian Barbie Collectors will sit alongside a collection of accessories that have enhanced Barbie's glamorous existence over the years. Included will be Barbie's fabulous fashions, dream houses, cars, pets and of course the men in her life!

The very first #1 Ponytail Barbie, one of only three in the Mattel U.S. archive, will also be on loan for the exhibition. In an auction on May 17th 2003, at Sandi Holder's Doll Attic in San Francisco a world record was set for the sale of a mint-in-box #1 Barbie doll from 1959 which reached an unbelievable U.S. $25,427.

I adore this time of year as its a chance to get back in touch with all the joys of a roaring fireplace, hearty soups, warm bread rolls, lots of soft fluffy blankets and the great excuse for me to wear hats, scarfs and gloves when ever possible.

So now that I have my Winter Solstice plans taken care of its just a case of dusting of the cookbook for soups and chocolate desserts.

1 + 1 + 1= lingerie longevity Part1

What Kate Did Lingerie

Right now you may be wondering what on earth I am talking about. However after recently discovering that many women, including ones I know, are wearing the wrong size lingerie and don't follow the lingerie longevity rules I thought I might share them with you all.

Its pretty simple; most of us like we like to wear a matching bra and panties set. But we all know you can often get two wears out of a bra before washing which means every second time its worn you not matching. So when ever you by a bra buy 2 panties.

Personally I buy 1 bra and the 2 different types of panties, either g-string, boy cut briefs or traditional briefs. Now you may be thinking "I don't have all that spare cash to buy lingerie". Buts is about getting the most out of your lingerie dollar. As panties are usually the first to go have a second set to extend the life of your bra is a good thing. Also when watching the dollar keep your eyes peeled for briefs that can match with bras you already own. My other favourite thing is to sneak into the DFO stores (direct factory outlet) for lingerie companies as you can often pick up a third or fouth pair of briefs for up to 70% off RRP. It just means you have to remember what you already have.

So next time your wondering out to the lingerie department have a think about what you have, what you need and the qty your going to get.

Happy Shopping

Pedi Pleasure

Winter may be the time we cover up however this is no time to forget about our beauty regimes.

So today my darlings we are going to look at how to do a basic pedicure at home
You’re going to need a small list of supplies at hand to perform the perfect pedicure. Remember to clean and dry the pedicure tools after each use. This not only keeps items clean and more effective, but it also helps prevent possible infections.

You’ll need a large basin to fill with water and soak your feet. For the best results, you want some sort of antiseptic, cleanser or moisturizing product mixed into the foot soaking water. If you really want to pamper yourself, make sure whatever you add to the water also smells wonderful.

A towel should be nearby for drying your feet. One of the best parts of a pedicure is getting rid of all that dry, dead skin, so make sure to buy a foot file or pumice stone. Use an exfoliating body or foot scrub and a foot file or a wet pumice stone and remove the dead on the balls and heels of your feet. The idea is the smooth and not the remove. If your foot is turning bright red then stop. This means that you are scrubbing too hard.

Next remove old nail polish completely. Using cotton balls leaves traces of cotton on your nails try using cotton bands instead. Soak the cotton band with acetone remover and remove the old polish. If the color is not coming off the press the cotton on to the nail and let it soak for a while.

It is always best to use high quality clippers to cut your toenails. Cut your nails straight across, leaving about 1/8″ of length. Do not let your nail extend over the tip of your toe.

For a soft square shape, file the nail around the corners in one direction. Use emory boards and not metal files, as metal files rip nails. The smoother surface is for smoothing the nail edge while the coarser surface is for shortening and shaping nails.

Apply cuticle remove to the base of each nail and rub in. Wait for a minute and then using an orangewood stick, slowly push the skin back where it meets the nail.

Dry your feet thoroughly including between the toes and apply nourishing foot cream; a super-intense moisturizing lotion is also required to help heal your newly cleaned skin. Rub the feet and rehydrate cuticles by rubbing a little cuticle oil.

Use an acetone remover to get rid of the extra oils on the nails. Apply a thin base coat and using three strokes, one down the middle and one on each side. Do not paint cuticles. Apply three coats totally and then apply a thin topcoat. Use orangewood stick wrapped in cotton dipped in nail polish remover to remove excess nail polish

Let your nails dry completely before you wear shoes. OPI polish
