Dollhouse Bettie

Now I've spoken about Dollhouse Bettie before but I thought it was about time I updated everyone on a couple of the stunning new pieces they have in stock.

First up is this beautiful slip with links to Vanity Fair, the legendary lingerie company that has been making fabulous confections for over 100 years. This perma-pleated delight is fashioned from nylon tricot and features a double layered chiffon bodice. Scalloped lace trims the neckline and underbust while a matching lace insert adorns the six inch pleated chiffon hem. Style is complete with adjustable ribbon straps. The design was produced in a range of hues and they are offered in a variety of colors and sizes.

Of course I couldn't go past this stunning Lily overbust corset from Burleska which has been imported by Dollhouse Bettie. With traditional construction methods, high quality components and beautiful styling make this a must have for corset lovers. Steel busk and boning offer fantastic structure and tight lacing capabilities, expect an immediate two inch reduction on your waist size. Ivory taffeta comprises the outer layer, style is fully lined in sturdy black woven cotton and reinforced with twill tape. Garter loops are provided for additional versatility, as well as a modesty panel if you choose to wear the garment with full coverage. Adorable box pleated black taffeta trims the bust and hip line, contrasting black casing highlights the structure of the panels and creates a slimming visual effect. Style is finished with a demure taffeta bow, strong satin ribbon and metal grommets allows vigorous cinching.

Sweet Dreams Princess

Every so often it is good to update your bedroom and make it a sanctuary that we often need to escape to. I once was given a list of ways to make your bedroom a retreat and place of romance. They compared the average bedroom to a hotel and why you so often feel more relaxed and/or amorous when staying in one. Their main points were the lack of clutter, high quality bedding and clear sense of what the room was for. These days so many of us have a pile of books by the bed, clothing around, TV’s or laptops and all our personal life around the place. The main key to sleep is to remove everything that can distract you. Not to mention the fact that may current room is a mix of furniture I’ve collected or inherited, so I thought it was finally time to create the space I’ve always dreamed of to add my beauty sleep

So with that it mind I have been thinking about what in hotels rooms make me feel so light and rested, and no its not the tiny soaps although they are nice. For me it’s the clean lines, minimal furniture and lack of distractions. Next I started thinking about what I keep saying I want, but haven’t actually got up and found yet. Obviously the first thing is a comfy bed, and in saying that I have very specific wants when it comes to my bed. I like high off the ground beds, not a fan of the base and mattress set, next comes firmness of the mattress and I like to be able to sit upright in bed to read so a high back is a most. Hence the picture above.
Another thing I have gone on about for many years is having a place to do my make up. No longer balancing a mirror on my small side table or trying to do it in my small bathroom. Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted a proper dressing table so now to pick which one. One I can sit at but still need a chest of drawers or one that is both but means standing to do my make up?

I also found this super cute day bed, it only it was bigger than a single I would of jumped on it. It has also taken me ages to settle on a color scheme, I eventually caved and went white as a) I’ve never had a white bedroom b) I can change its feel by changing sheets and throws and it seemed to look the best for my budget. Fingers crossed as I go hunting for pieces this weekend I find some bargains.

Sweet and Innocent...so they think

MakeUp - Benefit & Mac
Cardi - Portmans
Dress - Peter Alexander Slinky Nightie
Flower - Made by C
Skirt (out of shot) - Route 66

Sometimes its less about the fashion and more about the details.

As spring fashion hits the world of Melbourne and stores are flooded with hats, feather and thoughts turn to frocks I've decided to see if I can bring some of that fashion fun and flair to work.
So today's outfit was aimed at being a bit sugar and spice. Apart from the usually lingerie inspired top which was actually a shortie nightie from Peter Alexanders Winter 2 Range worn under a tight black pencil skirt with blue trim from Route 66; I added my fav little handmade necklace and massive ivory flower.

Frosty Morning

Are you a morning person? I know I’m not but there are some things on these frosty Melbourne mornings that can make them worthwhile getting up for. Usually I focus on beauty and lingerie but in light of the colder weather I thought it was time to look at ways to warm up.

Peter Alexander Quilt Set

Firstly the stealing an extra 15 minutes snuggling under the quilt covers. I admit that even this lover of the silky things in life does love the ability to have flannelette sheets on the bed at the moment. Currently I have navy blue stars flannelette sheets from Morgan and Finch on the bed with the stunning Peter Alexander Navy quit cover which is detailed by navy sequins on the main body of the quilt.

So once you’ve managed to drag yourself out of the warmth its time to get a spring in your step with a warming breakfast. Now if your like me the idea of ceral does nohomewares_10_bigt inspire the appetite then winter offers a few yummy morsals instead. To get you going a couple of toasted English muffins covered in butter and honey will always warm you up. Then of course there is always the wonderful porridge covered in cinnamon and apple pieces. But what to drink, for some its coffee all the way and for others juice. For me the only thing is Tea.

There is nothing better than travelling around the world in one cup. With a crisp lemon herbal to start and get the body awake followed by a traditional English breakfast to get ready for the day.

But what to wear…..

Easy PJ’s from my favourite designer Peter Aleaxander. Right now I’m decked out head to toe in his winter range (more photos to follow), with flannelette pants in pastal colours and a light pink long sleeve waffle top with of course the needed home boots.

So now that the days started I will head off for my cuppa and see you tomorrow for more winter sleepwear.
