In my recent hunting for different styles for an up coming shoot I came across these gems, sadly not my size but stunning none the less.
With their muted pink champagne body and ever so sweet and playful blooms of Ivory, champagne, pink, muted ice blue they were the sort of shoes that you just have to stop and have a look at.Not to mention very well priced.I also found them in a midnight version of blacks, deep purples, navy and green based blacks which was eye catching but no where near as much as the pale metallic versions.
Fingers crossed I find them in my size down here in Melbourne.
I adore lingerie and fashion, and yes there is a part of me that would adore being a model. Not your “I haven’t eaten since I was 10” type of model, more your alternative style. So with this in mind I figured it was time to add a bit more va va voom in my style, and off to the hair dressers I went.
Normally I’m an at home DIY hair dye gal, and the odd trip to my hairdresser (I’m very picky about who I go to).But this time I threw caution to the wind and trusted I would find some one who might be able to inject some Dita Von Teese/Bridget Bardot/good girl gone bad style into my cut.I blame the Traci Lords tee for all this ;)
And yes I was very lucky; thanks to Sovanna from GP salon in Chadstone I found just what I was looking for.Sovanna vamped up my color (back to my normal deep red – I’ve been a brunette for far too long), added some layers and then some curls. Now my hair has trouble holding a curl unless it has been set over night with A LOT of product, so there was much joy when I walked out of the salon with bouncing curls.Questions remains can I now reproduce this…we will have to see.
So with hairspray, hot curling tongs and pin curl clips in hand it was time to try…… as you can see above lol.
So here I am curlers in hair and crossing fingers it will work…..
2 hours later – with make up done and outfit sorted it was time to take out the curlers for the moment of truth…..Not the same, but not bad at all if I do say so myself, and with a hefty dose of hairspray to keep that hard won curl it was time to hit the town again.
Thankfully I’m still awake and actually not doing to bad after flying back on the red eye very late last night. Yep that’s right I touched Victorian soil just before midnight which means this little pixie climbed into bed in search of teddy and sweet dreams at about 1am.
This does mean this week depending on occasions I’m attending I can share with you some of my new divine finds from while I was up north. On this trip I was only blessed with 5 hours shopping (one short trip sat morning and the other Monday morning) due to public holidays and other engagements. However I did still get to visit my absolute favorite store Kitten D’amour on the Gold Coast and lets just say the suitcase was a little heavier on the way home. But really who can resist limited edition pieces that look this stunning and for some reason limited time frames do seem to mean the really good stuff jumps out at you more.
So what did I walk away with……2 dresses, a pencil skirt, 2 shirts, 1 cute little top and a FREE pair of jeans. And as always I’m smitten with the store and the service but more on that later. I’m off to have a nap and dream of shoes.
It’s that time of year again when a giant big rabbit sneaks into your garden to eat your carrots and hide chocolate eggs. However over the last few years two ideas have come into play in my world. 1) Swapping the bunny for the Australian Bilby and 2) do I really need all that chocolate?
This is a Bilby for those of you who don’t know. In Australia there has been a big push to replace the beloved bunny with a bilby to help save our native species. Even fruitless hot-cross buns are known as Bilby buns.
So in honor of saving waistlines and sugar coma’s I thought I’d offer some treats that are just as sweet from Eclectic Eccentricity
Eclectic Eccentricity is an amazing collection of vintage and contemporary jewellery by designer Lucy Averill. Here you’ll find divine necklaces, rings, brooches, bracelets and hair slides which are unique and vintage inspired. There are all sorts of pieces that seem to hold a story behind them, especially the pieces using lockets, globes and tiny love letters. You’ll find Lucy living in Norfolk, England, so its time to jump online and order one of these must have trinkets. They are perfect additions to any outfit of when you’re lazing around in your new slip from Dollhouse Bettie.
I uploaded a few of my favorites for you to have a look at.
A stitch in time is divine with this gem. It’s a miniature sterling silver sewing machine and it even opens to reveal a space storing wee little scissors and thread. Even its little wheel spins!
There is no hiding my addiction to tea or Alice in wonderland these days so this piece is a perfect compliment for any tea party with or without the Mad Hatter. Inspired by the sleepy little dormouse, a wee small Sterling Silver mouse nestles beside a miniature ceramic teapot.
Now I’m not usually a big fan of broaches but this one goes along way to changing my mind. This miniature wooden radio, accessorized with a single white rose and brass note is just right. I’d also love to try this pinned into a bow for a hair option.
Of course I also have a major weakness for pieces of jewellery which feature watches. I have more than my fair share of watch pendants, fob watches and nurse inspired upside down watches. So this little beauty caught my eye straight away. It is one of EE’s limited edition pieces - each piece in the range will be made in only very small numbers using extra special kooky trinkets and treasures. Inspired by the poem 'Who Bides His Time' by James Whitcomb Riley, this vintage style pocket watch is a great reminder to be mindful of those minutes!
So if these pieces have got you all inspired jump online and check out the rest of the collection, because there are so many more amazing pieces and Lucy is truly a spectacular designer.
I am having a major desire to hit the airport and jump a flight to Japan, it could just be the fact I’m spending a lot of time in hotels and airports in Australia that the desire to trade tickets and go off into the wild is distracting.Or it could just be the fact that I saw the coolest suitcase yesterday.
Now strangely this was not the first time I’ve come across this suitcase, I originally saw it a few months ago when Super Kawaii Mama featured it, so it was trippy to see it walking through the airport. If you have no clue what I’m on about I’m talking about the super cute Hideo Wakamatsucherry suitcase.
So this has got me also thinking again about Hime Gyaru.I love bad girl retro and and trying to find a way to test the waters with hime garu and maybe even see if they can combine so now it to hit the net for some inspiration and hopefully a super cute outfit.Especially since sat night is meant to be a doll inspired party.Fingers crossed.
Ok so I’ve been up since… well lets just say it was too dark to be considered morning by my books. After quiet a few coffees and a very big Danish pastry (right now I can sense my gym buddies rolling their eyes) it was time to board the flight up to the GC.
Back in the old days I would have been super stressed about getting on these early flights, booking cabs, making sure you there in time and hoping the line isn’t to full and don't even get me started on getting through security, just once I’d like to be able to go through without having to take off my shoes/belt and bracelets.Thankfully now with the wonders of modern technology (this statement only applies when it works) I have already checked in complete with boarding pass 2 days earlier from the comfort of my desk and at a reasonable hour for both of my flights. And to add an extra smile to my face I also had picked my own seat, and checked in with my hire car so all they had to do was throw me the keys so I could make my breakfast meeting with no stress – thank goodness for Sat Nav’s and helping me not get lost.
However modern technology can not solve a fashion crisis…yet at least. Now I’m one of those people who like’s to dress to travel.I don’t mean tracksuit pants, hoodie and ugg boots; I mean a nice outfit with heels and when possible gloves but you do tend to get strange looks these days when you do this.I now I’ve gone about this before but why do people feel that it is ok to look like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards just because your getting on a flight.I can hear you all screaming about those long haul flights, and I agree 26 hours in heels is not the best way to be in a flying tin can…yet why not have a spare outfit for the end so when you hop off the plane your fresh, fashionable and down right fantastic?
So with this in mind I made sure I put extra effort into my getting ready today, plus going from the airport to a breakfast thing first up ensured I was all organised. The only snag in this plan was the fact that the temperature in Melbourne at 4am is a tad bit different that QLD at 8am.
I seem to spend a large portion of my time in hotels at these days, not that I’m complaining, its just an odd feeling. I keep having these Alice in Wonderland moments as so many things in my life are currently miniatures. These days you can pop into any supermarket, Priceline or even gas station and find mini versions of your much needed travel items; but I do remember the days of decanting big bottles of shampoo into smaller bottles or justifying that you really do need to take the massive bottle of body lotion and praying that it won’t explode in your bag.
Ok so I’m also a sucker for this tiny bottles of delight, especially as I can also figure out exactly how much of each thing I need and you get to try different versions all the time to see what you like rather than buying a big bottle only to find it doesn’t have the right scent etc. Plus another bonus as I have a habit of forgetting what I pack (yes customs has taken away my nail clippers and my little pony scissors from my pencil case with me, I mean who has every heard of someone being threatened with cute pink scissors designed for the under 5’s), so these little gems are great as the meet the new carry-on luggage regulations.
I digress. At the moment I’m loving Dove Mini Deodorant and Mini Rexona Girl and Cotton fresh deodorant; these actually last quiet a while. So much so I keep a lynx one in my gym bad and a rexona one in my desk at work.
Now Shampoo’s as any girl will know is a very personal thing. So far I’ve tried Tresemme colored hair Shampoo and conditioner – really good, so far my favourite.I’ve also tried Sunsilk Super-shine Shampoo and conditioner – good but a little heavy for my hair. Next on the list to try (this trip) is VO5.
For all those fly I have Sunsilk strong hairspray or Treseme silk hairspray.
For hands and body I just can’t go past the Vaseline Intensive care lotion, great for the plane as it has Vitamins A, E and Elastin and thankfully this one is absorbed fast and not greasy so I can still pick up my glass of wine and not have it slip out of my little hands.
No more random shower gels or soaps for this gal, now I can sparkle with mini Lux luminous touch body wash or feel extra special princess the Dove cream oil body wash Cherry blossom and almond oil.
I even found this super cute pink lighter for my travel candles when I’m away, and I am keeping an eye out for some gems to stick on after I saw the great works by Violet and Cheeser.
I'm a gal who lives in the best city for fashion, food and art.
I adore fashion from a multitude of eras with a weakness for goth, rockabilly, 1950 vintage, neo-victorian.
Lingerie is another weakness and I strongly believe that the right lingerie can change your day. For me its the foundation of your mood and outfit.
