Dolls do DIY

Ok so I’m moving in and doing a bit of DIY as well. So far I have built my bed, dresser, coffee table and TV table. Not to mention install the TV’s and get the house all spick and span. However I did have an incident with the water heater I won’t mention but it does make me think sometimes when you’ve tried and tried to make things work having a friend on hand to ‘fix’ it for you is very beneficial. Let’s just say after 2 days of fighting with it in the rain I was more than a little embarrassed to have my buddy fix it in 5 mins.
So what DIY am I planning you may ask. Now this big list is to be tackled over the next 2 years in the new house but in a perfect world I want to
Paint the whole house inside
Get new carpets
Fix the plaster cracks
Restain/wax all the woodwork
Fix the windows/screen doors
Re-do the garden
Rewire fuse box (not DIY)
Basically make the house a haven
But until that all happens I’ll settle for a hot shower, lights, a big cup of tea and a good book.

I'm ready for my close up

You always have the choice of hiring a makeup artist that comes to you or going to them, or even popping instore to cosmetic retailer. Feel free to ask questions about, price and what you get for your money. Some counters in stores charge a fee that is redeemable on product which means you can walk away with your lippie and powder ready for touch ups.
If you have a particular make up brand you like go and talk to them, tell them what you already have and they may be able to use what you already have in a new way. It is also good to go and visit your make up counter every six months or so to see what new styles are in and to see if you should change any product. Personally I seem to change my foundation yearly as my skin changes. I stand by the golden rule ïf you don’t ask you don’t get” so getting asking.

Be honest, if you don’t like it tell them
Tell them if you have any skin or allergies, as you want to look your best not have a reaction
Take images with you for the look your after
Ask what style of make up they have trained in, bridal, photography, glamour
Try and bring samples of your outfit colors because they may be able to suggest eyeshow that compliment or enhance your outfit.
Ask if you can either bring you own lippie or buy one as you may want to touch up as the night goes on
Remember they are artist not miracle works, and as much as we’d all love them to take of ten years it is only make up and they do the best they can.

Curl up and dye - just cause I could

Normally I’m an at home DIY hair dye gal, and the odd trip to my hairdresser (I’m very picky about who I go to). But this time I threw caution to the wind and trusted I would find some one who might be able to inject some Dita Von Teese/Bridget Bardot/good girl gone bad style into my cut. I blame the Traci Lords tee for all this ;)
And yes I was very lucky; thanks to Sovanna from GP salon in Chadstone I found just what I was looking for. Sovanna vamped up my color (back to my normal deep red – I’ve been a brunette for far too long), added some layers and then some curls. Now my hair has trouble holding a curl unless it has been set over night with A LOT of product, so there was much joy when I walked out of the salon with bouncing curls. Questions remains can I now reproduce this…we will have to see.
So with hairspray, hot curling tongs and pin curl clips in hand it was time to try…… as you can see above lol.
So here I am curlers in hair and crossing fingers it will work…..
2 hours later – with make up done and outfit sorted it was time to take out the curlers for the moment of truth…..Not the same, but not bad at all if I do say so myself, and with a hefty dose of hairspray to keep that hard won curl it was time to hit the town again.
