Vintage Swimwear and being beach ready

Considering I’m waking up in 7 degrees with an expected top of 11 it does feel slightly mad to be thinking and doing prep for swimwear. As I’ve mentioned before I’m part of the Circa Vintage fashion parade and yes I’m more than a little excited/nervous/thrilled to be part of it. Normally this time of year I rug up in my favorite shawls, stockings and gloves but as we are heading up north to parade in some stunning pieces I figured I’d better think SUMMER!

Now I am normally very pale, some call it peaches and cream but at this time of the year I feel almost transparent. So what to do? I can’t do the spray tan thing as I usually end up a strange color and let’s face it why ruin perfect English rose complexion. But I have found a little bottle of joy, it’s a moisturizer that has a very faint fake tan it which means the more you apply the darker you get, and it builds up over time. And if worst comes to the worst a bit of “star legs” a great spray I found for dancers and photography might just help. However my big issue is the cold, so everybody start thinking warm thoughts.

Plus there is a little bit of vintage maintance that I need to do (apart from packing like a crazy woman) like nails, nail and ensuring I have everything I need. A big thanks to Kendiedoll for offering her heated rollers while I’m up there…..if only I could take Terry!

However after all this the main piece of advice I can offer is to think beautiful. Just like lingerie the right pair of swimmers can make you feel a million dollars so find pieces you love and feel comfortable in. You don’t have to wear a string bikini to be a show stopper, these ladies in the photos above are proof of that.

If your interested in some of the pieces we will be wearing jump onto youtube.com and have a look at some of the images filmed of Candace and Nicole for the ABC’s Collectors program

Countdown

In less than a month (approx 21 days but who’s counting) I’m heading up to Queensland for one of my favorite events WINTERSUN. Running from the 4th to 14th June on the Coolangatta beachfront it is Australia's Leading Rock & Roll Nostalgia Retro Event, hence the excitement.

This year it includes:
Street Parade of floats, bands and fun on Saturday 12th June starting in North Kirra at 9:45 AM

Hot Rod, Classic & Custom Car Show in the parks and streets of Coolangatta with about 1500 cars on show all day Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th June.

Live entertainment in the parks and streets of Coolangatta with about 80 bands and performers all day Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th June.

Hot Rod, Classic & Custom Car cruises on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th June from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM cruising the beachfront

And best of all *drum roll please*

Nicole Jenkins of Crica Vintage will be showing her amazing collection of vintage swimsuits

Plus joy for all many events are free, some are in the streets while others are in the local clubs and shopping centre’s. So really anyone who wants to soak up some of the amazing vibe that Wintersun brings can walk on down.

Fingers crossed its warm enough for me to jump into one of Nicoles divine pieces, if your not sure what I’m talking about here is a little glimpse at some of the selection that was on show at the Ballarat Heritage Exhibition a couple of weekends ago.

So I’m off to find some subtle fake tan and some super shoes, and maybe attempt to pack. Just to see how much is really going with me. See you in GC in June!

If i only could get this to wear next weekend

From the stunning gals at What Katie Did comes this stunning little number from theirvintage style swimsuit range. With all the style and charm of mid-century swimwear, but unlike its predecessors, is suitable to be immersed in both chlorine and salt water! The fully-lined Sailor swimsuit has a supportive, halterneck top, shaped cups and an authentic, skirted bottom that manages to be slimming to larger posteriors, but create curves in smaller ones!

I think I may need this for wintersun....what do you think

What time is it???

Ok so its that time of the year again. Its not exactly the annual family vaction but this gal who loves the cold has for some crazy reason headed north. Sure I stepped off the plane like Lana Turner only to be greeted by a throng of short and singlet tees. *insert fainting motion*

From WHAT KATIE DID swimwear collection

So now my body clock is out and its only the wee small hours of the morning and its blistering hot all ready. Time to crack out the swimwear, any vintage gals who can offer some hair tips in this sub tropical heat would be welcome.

You may be wondering what the plan is in this heat. Apart from the surviving the heat, i will be celebrating christmas with family. Ok so it may not be the vintage christmas like days of old but there will be many old embarrassing stories and of course all those photos you had forgotten about.

TikiDoll First Christmas

Well as its close to christmas a quick trip to santa is needed with Mimidoll and KeechiDoll, hopefully we won't get coal for christmas. Maybe I'll take a couple of extra candikanes with me to bride good old santa.

Then after picking up the latest group flying in, its time to start cooking my little heart out for a christmas day. I will be making the not traditional but still yummy cupcakes. Maybe a quick trip to martha stewart is needed to get some inspiration. Then its all hands in the kitchen.

Stay tunned for yummy cupcake info.....
