La Senza

As you know lingerie is the foundation to your day.  Its the first thing we put each day and can often change your mood from 'ho hum' to 'va va voom' in an instant.  Now not every gal every day can afford to run around in La Pearla but that doesn't mean you have to settle for the supermarket 10 pack brief set either.  If you keep your eyes peeled you can find some great everyday wear with the right hint of 'va va voom' that doesn't make you wallet cry either.

My current addiction is picking up cute little pieces from La Senza.  So far I have managed to pick up a few bras for only $30 (normally around the $80 mark) and panties for $10 as there is a massive sale on currently.  However even at the higher price point these bras are worth the investment as the cleavage they can create are a much cheaper and safer option than plastic surgery.

The cuts do range from a bit of coverage to full on "WOW" cleavage which is great as you can wear them as everyday bras or for a special occasion.  Plus they also stock a good range of strapless bras as well, a must with many of the tops I wear in summer.  The fabrics are nice and soft, a must for my everyday bras, as well as prints that let you express a bit of your inner pinup everyday.

So next time your wandering around a shopping centre to jump in for a look as you never know what you could find for your inner vixen.

Strike a pose

There are many pinup artists that I admire, but today I thought I'd share a couple of my favorite pics from Gil Elvgren.  You may have seen Elvgren's works on lots of pinup sites, not to mention a lot of photographer's use his work as inspiration for their pinup shoots.  From the mid 1930's through 1972, Elvgren produced over five hundred paintings of beautiful girls and women. Almost all of these works are oilo on canvas, and fully developed finished works of art. Elvgren continually surpassed himself, always improving in ideas, composition, color, and technique.

Its well known amongst my friends that I adore his work, so it was a great treat when Mikii last cam down and brought with him some beautiful posters with him for me.  These were now added to my growing collection, I just have to now find some beautiful frames to put them in.

Inner Pinup

Well its late on a friday night and no I'm not hitting the town. In fact I'm sitting with my hair in curlers trying to get some extra bounce for tomorrow's photo shoot.

Over the next two weeks I will find myself in a 1950's dreamland as I pose for photos in all my retro gear. First off its at the Burlesque Bar and next weekend Ballarat, so this little gal is preparing for a lot of hairspray, false lashes and pouting red lips. As soon as I get some images I will post and show you all. However the issue I'm having now is what to take with me. Its a bit hard to pack your entire wardrobe, just in case, so I've chosen a few key pieces and fingers crossed they will work. So I'm off to rest and wake up as a little pinup doll tomorrow.

Wish me luck!

What a find!

While getting our breakfast Mikii and I cam across these fantastic vintage inspired bottles of drink and of course I just had to get them.

I admit I'm not quiet sure what types of drink they are but I think they will look super cool in my new kitchen, so I grabbed one of each and they are now packed safely in my case for the return trip next week.

Dolly Q

Still inspired by my recent Goth trips around the city I thought I'd show you an amazing Australian design house called Dolly Q. I adore Dolly Q for there stunning designs that take inspiration from historical fashion, fairy tales and film. An very clearly promotes Danielle's desire for wearable glamor. For someone like myself who walks a very thin line between vintage, retro, rockabilly and goth Dolly Q creates looks for all elements.

Command your ship with this admiral inspired glamour little number, a Classic hour glass silhouette, shown in lush gold and cream satin with matching brocade side front panel. Caera is finished off with military chic in matching lace, braiding and bossy double chain detail, Caera debuted at Circa Nocturna 2009 and can also be seen in FIEND magazines ‘something old something nuclear’ fashion spread

Fabric: delustered satin, matching brocade, satin braiding, covered buttons and chains.

Ohara is as sweet as cherry pie, adorable sweet heart halter neck over bust corset with top and side hem ruffle, all topped off with super cute cherry buttons. The hemline cut of this style arches higher than our normal over bust corsets, making it pin-up perfect to wear with any sassy skirt.

So matter if your looking for steam punk or steamy pinup you will find brilliant designs at Dolly Q.

Smoke and Mirrors

Ok so in all honesty the world of modeling isn’t that glamorous hence this is what I looked like at breakfast before my photoshoot last weekend. Just for the record I hadn’t had much sleep the last two nights before this as well as a very late and long plane flight; however with the wonders of makeup and hair dressers all would be fixed.

As with any good make-over here is a bit of a photo-montage from very tired travelling pinup to vamp waiting for her outfits to arrive. The first part of the day was spent doing my hair which involved a lot of time curling little strands to get a nice bouncy curl. And as my hair doesn’t really hold a curl a large amount of hairspray and setting sprays were used, as this style had to last from midday (when we finally finished it) all the way through to the wee hours of the next morning as we were all going out on the town afterwards. Its always a rather nice bonus when you can get your hair done for ‘work’ and play.
Next the make up, and boy do I mean make up. Due the rather harsh lighting which does a) wash you out and b) make the makeup melt there had to be a rather large amount applied. We actually tried 3 different lots of colors for eyes and in the end decided for a smoky grey and brown combination with just a touch of silver. This transformation was a funny one as you can see from the photo before without the eye and lip color’s I was looking very pale.

So with eye color done the addition of false eyelashes began, and then the gluing of 5 individual diamonds on each set to add some glamour. So by the end of this process I did start to feel a little bit like a disco ball as I was also wearing sparkling body lotion to help add some ‘healthy glow’ all over in the shots. Thankfully the photos are less disco ball then I expected.

Final result…not bad for 3 hours work. Why all this you may ask? I won’t spoil the surprise but I was asked to do a photo shoot for one of my favorite designers and their new release of stock, so of course I said yes. Watch this space and hopefully I can put some photos up for you all.

Also a big thanks to Ms Cass, Lu, Evil Mark, Kitty and co, Good Mark and my long time friend DM Michael for a great weekend and catch up. I’ll see you all in 5 weeks for swimsuits and more photos.

officewear

Its a new year and time to go through the wardrobe and find what parts I can wear for my new office job. So i quick trip to Mode Merr for inspiration was in order to get the right little pick me up. Yet again its in the USA so the best option is to jump online and see whats new.

I'm thinking the above little number is a must for the coming autumn season. However this may all change when I see the new release of garments from Circa Nocturna in march. Yes I am already looking that far ahead.
