The Way We Wear Exhibition

Another fantastic feature of the Way We Wear was the exhibition which greeted you as you walked into the town hall. As the theme was “what the bride wore” it was brilliant to see all of these wedding gowns.

It was a great reminder that everything has a story. Every piece of vintage fashion was once worn, loved and cherished by someone else. From clothing to jewelry, it all has a story, especially wedding gowns.

It makes me wonder what the women who wore these were like. Who did they marry? Why? What was their life like? It has made me go back and look at all my vintage pieces again with a sense of childlike wonderment.

The Way We Wear = dangerous

When this is the first thing you see as you walk up to a venue you know your in the right place. Funny after all the cars I saw at Wintersun I didn’t see a stretch Chevy like this. So of course I had to take a photo.

Once inside it was wonderful to see so many stalls which such diverse treasures, everything from shoes to jewels, even collections of buttons. Plus I did stumble (ok not so much stumble as hunt down) Jacinta from Circa Hats.

And it was there that I picked up this little treasure. I divine little black velvet cocktail had that fitted perfectly on the crown of my head, now to figure out the hairstyle that will suit it best.

Also in my searching I came across this sweet little dress ring, as well as a pair of navy and white gloves. Perfect for this cold Melbourne weather, and lets face it nothing say a night out at the theatre like a pair of finely tailored gloves. I did manage to pick up a couple of full floral skirts and a super sweet pale green day dress. Thankfully the green dress will match wonderfully with my velvet heels that got a very good work out modelling and dancing at Wintersun.

Out and About

Yep that’s right I’ve only been back a few days and I’m about to go over to the other side of Melbourne in search of new-to-me fashion at The Way We Wear. Fingers crossed I get to catch up with Jacinta from Circa Hats and some one better hold onto my wallet as I am sure it will be overwhelming with choice which means I could utter the dangerous phrase “oh well I’ll get them all”. Plus I’m hunting for a purple outfit for a party next month so my eyes will be peeled as I hunt through the racks.

So if your looking for a great mix of vintage fashion, hats, lingerie and general all round greatness pop on your little cotton socks and come on over.

Sunday 20th June 10am - 4pm

Amazing hats from Circa

My dear darling Kendiedoll has made me very jealous by attending the “the way we wear” vintage fair last weekend on the Gold Coast. Sadly due to Melbourne commitments I was unable to attend but I do thank her very much for these amazing photos of the event.

From the images it was clear to see why she went straight to Circa - Imported Vintage Hats and the fantastic Jacinta Saunders. During the trying on of stunning hats Kendiedoll put on a great red hat which matched her outfit and Jacinta kindly said - why don't you wear it to the wedding which Kendiedoll was attending in the church next to the fair. Needless to say Kendiedoll couldn't believe it and readily agreed. Then went to the wedding, the hat enhancing her outfit; and after Saturday I think Kendiedoll could happily start collecting these special hats. Jacinta also had these great little hats, that are easy to wear, absolutely finish off an outfit, many different colors and no two were the same.

Don’t these ladies look stunning in the Circa designs, ok so maybe some saving before June to buy some of these gems at the Melbourne fair.

Keep watching for more stunning designs from Circa once I upload the photos from kendidoll.
